If you love to travel with train & enjoy greenery nature, then you love Shifen Waterfall 十分大瀑 in Taiwan. This waterfall is located on the upper reaches of the Keelung River in Pingxi 平溪 District of New Taipei City. Guess what? Shifen Waterfall is having a nickname as “The Little Niagara of Taiwan” OR “Taiwan’s Niagara Falls”.
It’s the broadest waterfall in Taiwan with its height of 20m & width 40m to creating a rainbow as it splashes into the lake. With free admission to all to appreciate its beautiful scenery & nature surrounding. It’s located just within 30mins by foot from Shifen Old Streets 十分老街 by walking along the sides of the train tracks between Dahua Station & Shifen Station in the NorthEast direction. Also, it’s very convenient & accessible via public transport i.e.
(1) 1-hour train journey via Shifen station of Pingxi Line 平溪线 from the Taipei Main Station. Suggest purchasing a 1-day ticket
(2) Shuttle bus service is available to/ from Shifen 十分 from Taipei City @ Ximending Youth Shopping District 西门町
The opening schedule is different between summer & winter season, so do check out 1st before your trip there
Non-summer seasons (Oct till May) 9am to 5pm (last entrance 4.30pm) Summer season (June till Sept) 9am to 6pm (last entrance 5.30pm)
